A DANCE resembling
A BIRD
CI workshop with Artem Markov
24 January - 3 February
10 days / 40 hours
Please, come learn and get joy dancing with us!

I am happy to be back on Koh-Phangan. For this course, I would like to delve into the topic of light and effortless dance.

You will study on this workshop:

🔴 how to be lighter in dance;

🔴 how to maintain movement, and not freeze;

🔴 how to be steady while dancing;

🔴 how to find resolution and joy from own strength.

In contact improvisation, we are accustomed to playing with the fall of the central axis, which is called the small dance. The fall of the vertical axis is one of the main tools that initiates movement in space.

In somatic approaches based on BMC (Body-Mind Centering), we utilize the material of human embryonic development to see how new forms and new possibilities of movement are nurtured within us. I invite you to dive into profound method of embryological bodywork and find your own deeph. We will also learn from imagination qualities for flying.

Additionally, you will study to recognize movement directions, the vector of movement. Birds can soar on air currents, surfers glide on the waves of ocean movement. You will learn to distinguish the directions of movement in order to surrender to the flow and not argue with physical forces.

Come to improve your dance skills.

Some words that won't stick to the body from the mind: :

🔴 weightlessness;

🔴 effortlessness (more precisely the optimization of resources, strength, and effort);

🔴 the ability to use freefall energy, a common direction or floating vector;

🔴the vision of how the Self body tends to go in one direction or another.

We have arms and legs, this is the body as it is. We are conditioned by history, habits, and we do not want to reject or avoid them. We don't want to fantasize much, but we want to see a little more in what we already have. We want to cultivate the path of listening, and how through this attention we can learn to fly. Together.

Be steady: Legs and support from below, knowing of the earth and birth, cicking reflexes.
Be light: Work with balloons and images. Exercises from Yaniv Mincer.
Be mobile, move: Slip and fat. Exercises from Carl Frost. Getting started with the central axis.
Central axis: The bell, how to integrate into the movement. Mobile floating middle line.

I want to do this course for those who really want to learn how to fly with the central line in the sky.
The course carries a consistent alignment. We will start with the most basic exercises. And we'll finish with something similar to jams or labs.

The basics are a very important part, especially for the experienced. Because every teacher puts their own nuances into working with weight, and often it's the experienced ones who skip the base and do all sorts of traumatic things. So the base is the most valuable thing.

There will be "main part" in the middle of the course. The juiciest stuff.
And at the end we will try organize a laboratory.
Laboratories imply the ability to creatively handle what has been learned and explore your interests together on the basis of knowledge and skills. I would dream we create a field of madness and freedom to practice this flying things.
